Gallery -- Fubine ed i fubinesi
We've
been amassing quite a large collection of photos of Fubine and of emigrants
from Fubine
in America and England and we'll do our best to get them scanned and into
this gallery.
Our hope is that some of you will recognize some of the unnamed people
in the pictures
and tell us who they are. If you have photos or information on any of
the photos below,
send them to us at btanzilo@yahoo.com.
(Note: the photos on this page are larger than other photos on the site,
so that the faces will be perhaps easier to recognize)
Scoprimento!
The unveiling of the monument to the fallen soldiers of WWI
(photos
submitted by Kay Lorenzato, London, England)
We believe these photos to be of the unveiling of the monument,
erected just after World War I in Piazza C. Colombo, and subsequently
replaced after World War II, when the original monument was reportedly
melted down. We suspect that the man speaking in the first photo
is Romano Vergano,
who was mayor of Fubine from 1919-1922 (and again after the second
world war) or, perhaps, G.B. Gambarana.
(Note the fascists in the foreground, making no secret of their
politics)
